2023 First-Generation College Celebration

Millersville University will be celebrating its' first-generation community with events that occur through the month of November. To kick off the first-generation celebration we will be having a first- gen and Juice breakfast bar. Following the kickoff, the Millersville University community will have the opportunity to engage in a Chat & Chew to engage in conversation about the first-generation experience, on November 8th we will be having a First Gen Fest for students, we will be celebrating the many cultures represented in our local community by visiting the One World Festival, and we will be ending the celebration with our Tri-Alpha Celebration. 

2020 First-Generation College Celebration

Millersville University's Student Access and Support Services office is hosting a week-long celebration with programming that welcomes, supports, elevates, and brings the first-generation student community together. The week-long events will capitalize on last years' events by continuing to bring awareness to the campus community of the importance of the first-generation population. The University will continue to promote campus-wide support for students, staff, faculty, and administrators. Millersville University of Pennsylvania will host their First-Generation Celebration from November 8, 2020 - November 13, 2020.

The events include an affirmation balloon release on November 8th, First-generation Breakfast grab and go on November 9th; Virtual First-generation Resume workshop and a Painting event on November 10th; Prayer Mapping and Mental Health awareness workshops on November 11th; a Mask and Sanitizer drive on November 12th; a First-generation Tri-Alpha Meet up opportunity; and First-generation Social Media spotlights on November 13th.

2019 First-Generation College Celebration

Millersville University's Marauders First is hosting a week-long celebration on programming that welcomes, supports, elevates, and brings first-generation students community together. The week-long events will bring awareness to the campus community on the importance of the first-generation community and promotes campus-wide support for students, staff, faculty and administrators.

The week’s events include a first-generation athletic recognition at the home football game, first-generation breakfast celebration, first-generation and faith opportunity, first-generation wellness that includes yoga, flu shots and opportunities to talk about stress management, first-generation graduate fair, as well as a national honor society for first-generation student celebration (Tri-Alpha) and induction ceremony.

The week will culminate with a photo booth and celebration in the student memorial center on November 8, which is the National First-Generation College Celebration day. The latest University President Update highlighting the week-long celebration.
