2021 First-Generation College Celebration

Campus-wide Scavenger Hunt

The First-Generation Student Support Committee will be hosting a campus-wide scavenger hunt in honor of national First-Generation Student Day. First-Generation and non-First-Generation college students will form teams of three or four students and will receive clues to departments and services on campus and then will head off to find them. Representatives at each department will verify the clue, hand out business cards, and provide more information about their department or service. A gift card of $25 will be given to each team member of the first team to secure all campus locations and arrive at the final destination point.

2020 First-Generation College Celebration

The First-Generation Student Support Committee at Bentley University is inviting all faculty, staff, and students, particularly first-generation college students (those who parents did not complete a four-year degree) to a panel of distinguished first-generation Bentley alumni to learn of their experiences while attending Bentley as first-generation college students, the high and lows of their years at Bentley, and their careers since graduation. This is a special event in celebration of National Frist-Generation College Student Day, which is Sunday, November 8. The format will be a discussion of specific questions presented by a moderator followed by a question and answer session from attendees.

2019 First-Generation College Celebration

First-generation college students come from a range of backgrounds and represent an important part of the Bentley community. Being the first in a family to navigate the college system in the United States, however, also brings about unique challenges. The First Generation College Student Resource Fair which will guide students to a “Fully Loaded Bentley Experience” will be held on Friday November 8 to celebrate, learn more about important campus resources, and explore how to make the most of the Bentley college experience.
