2019 First-Generation College Celebration

Doane University's First Generation Student Celebration Week will be November 4-8. On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of the week from 4:00-6:00 pm, there will be various activities for all faculty, staff, and students on each campus in Crete, Lincoln, Grand Island, and Omaha.

There will be daily swag, information displays, food, water. Each day a faculty or staff member who is first gen will be highlighted. Their picture and First gen bio will be shared on displays, TV monitors, and in emails. Daily emails with links to information for academic success tips for first gen students and showing support to first gen students tips for faculty/staff will be sent out. A pre-survey on first-gen student awareness was sent out the week before the week long event. A post-survey will be sent out following the event.
