2019 First-Generation College Celebration
For 2019, Houston Baptist University plans to continue the tradition of faculty engagement by inviting faculty and students that identify as first-gen to share their experiences as first-generation students and how that has impacted their professional careers in higher education. The theme for this year will be "Seeds of Legacy." Students and faculty will be given acorn-shaped bells. The purpose of this gift is to be a physical reminder of the seeds they are planting in their lives by choosing to pursue a college education, and the sound of the bell is a reminder of the resounding legacy that they are building for their families. As each individual goes to share their testimony, everyone will ring the bell to celebrate them. Additionally, there will be cocktail tables and hors d'oeuvres offered.

2017 First-Generation College Celebration
Houston Baptist University was not able to observe First-Generation College Student Day in 2017. The Program was still fairly new at this time and was still developing a rapport on campus and planning different types of events for TRIO students.
