San Juan College's First-Generation College Celebration

2022 First-Generation College Celebration
Monday, November 7th is “Wear Your Alma Mater or Dream School Day”. Please wear a shirt/sweatshirt of the college you attended or would like to attend or wear your San Juan College attire! Alma Mater Day can be a resourceful day to encourage students with college ambitions by sparking a conversation with students about potential future college choices, providing a perspective on different colleges and learn more about them, and maybe even help them solidify their choice of a college after graduation.
The following day, Tuesday, November 8th, will be the second event “National First Generation Day Celebration” which will take place at the Henderson Fine Arts Center from 8:30am – 11:30am. The event is about celebrating those who are first in their family to attend college and graduate with a bachelor’s degree. It is also a celebration to honor the anniversary of the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965. The goal is to bring awareness, support, and increase the visibility of being first generation on campus. Come join us for breakfast, hear key speakers and panel members across campus, converse with first-generation students, and have fun!
