2020 First-Generation College Celebration

The University of Alaska Fairbanks will celebrate first-gen students and employees with a week-long series of events beginning Monday, November 9, 2020. Featured events include a workshop to give faculty tools to create learning environments that are more first-gen inclusive, a panel of first-gen STEM professionals, first-gen trivia, and a showing of the film "First Generation."

2019 First-Generation College Celebration

While first-generation students, faculty, and staff have always been an important part of the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) community, celebrations in conjunciton with National First-Generation College Student Day have been limited to a STEM panel held by UAF's Student Support Services in conjunction with Alaska EPSCoR. Building on UAF's designation as a First-Gen Forward institution, Student Support Services and the Nanook Diversity and Action Center have partnered to create a week-long celebration of first-gen students and employees at UAF.
