Marie Mahovetz, Ed.S.
Network Operations Manager, FirstGen Forward
Marie Mahovetz (she/her/hers) serves as the network operations manager. Her work supports the recruitment, intake, and administrative experience for institutions interested in the FirstGen Forward Network. Marie joined FGF in January 2023 following an administrator role at the University of South Florida (USF). At USF, Marie led a team of undergraduate students on a mission to spread financial wellness and empowerment across the campus via one-on-one coaching, group workshops, and events. Beyond her work with USF, Marie brings experience in nonprofit organizations, marketing, event coordination, and mental health advocacy.
As a first-generation college student from a single-parent household, Marie embodies the power of student support and programs dedicated to holding others up. Her passion for student success comes from personal experience with Federal Work Study, financial aid (graduated debt-free), and scholarship housing at Southern Scholarship Foundation. Marie holds an M.Ed. in school counseling and an Ed.S. in mental health counseling from Florida Atlantic University, as well as a B.S. in psychology and criminology and a graduate certificate in nonprofit management from Florida State University.
