Marie Mahovetz (she/her/hers) serves as the network operations manager. Her work supports the recruitment, intake, and administrative experience for institutions interested in the First Scholars Network within the Center for First-generation Student Success.

Marie joined the Center in January 2023 following an administrator role at the University of South Florida (USF). At USF, Marie led a team of undergraduate students on a mission to spread financial wellness and empowerment across the campus via one-on-one coaching, group workshops, and events. Beyond her work with USF, Marie brings experience in nonprofit organizations, marketing, event coordination, and mental health advocacy.

As a first-generation college student from a single-parent household, Marie embodies the power of student support and programs dedicated to holding others up. Her passion for student success comes from personal experience with Federal Work Study, scholarships/grants (graduated debt-free), and scholarship housing at Southern Scholarship Foundation. Marie holds an M.Ed. in school counseling and an Ed.S. in mental health counseling from Florida Atlantic University, as well as a B.S. in psychology and criminology and a graduate certificate in nonprofit management from Florida State University.
