Program Coordinator, Center for First-generation Student Success, NASPA
Robert "Bobby" McGowan serves as program coordinator with the Center for First-generation Student Success, where he provides programmatic and administrative support to the Center's daily operations, professional development offerings, and online presence. He also supports front line customer service for the Center and NASPA through the oversight of official email accounts and the management of emerging program contacts.
Robert joined the Center in March 2020 from The University of Scranton where he served as program coordinator with the THR1VE program, an initiative designed to celebrate and support first-generation college students by increasing visibility and access to existing resources, streamlining support programming, and creating new support offerings. His primary responsibility was collaborating with key campus stakeholders to build a robust network of resources easing the transition to and through first-generation student college experience while influencing student satisfaction and retention rates.
A proud first-generation college graduate, Robert earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology and philosophy from The University of Scranton. Outside of the Center, Robert serves on the inaugural Young Alumni Advisory Council (YAAC) for Alpha Sigma Nu, the honor society of Jesuit colleges and universities, and he also serves as president of the honor society's Northeastern Pennsylvania Alumni Club.
