Ohio State University Mansfield First-Generation College Celebration
Donna L. Hight Ph.D., Ohio State Mansfield / FirstGen Forward / November 29, 2019
On Wednesday, November 6, 2019, we joined our Buckeye Pathways program, which encourages all students to remain on the Mansfield campus for a second year ahead of transferring to the Columbus campus, and to participate in our National First-Generation College Celebration annually.
This year, we celebrated with lots of pictures of first-gen college students, faculty, and staff in the lobby of Ovalwood Hall. We held numerous events and passed out our new first-gen pins to first-gen students.
First-generation college students make up 45% of our campus attendance, so they are a large part of the rich diversity of our campus. We also have a large number of first-gen faculty and staff on the Mansfield campus as well. We make a commitment to reaching out to all of our diverse students to make them aware of campus resources here to serve them. Our personalized approach to care is how we serve first-gen students best.
We also compiles Instagram moments capturing some of the great moments throughout the day:
