2019 First-Generation College Celebration

This year, we want to continue with the I'm first buttons, we will host a TRiO open house for students, staff, and faculty to come by and learn about services we offer first-gen students. Also, we kick-off the "Why I'm first" campaign with all of our students, staff, and faculty who are willing to submit their "Why" and each day in November, we will feature a spotlight of that individual and their why. 

 

 

 

2018 First-Generation College Celebration

Last year, was the first year we celebrated first-gen week on campus! Over half of the students at Aims are first-generation students and to celebrate we had a first-gen table event on day one called "trailblazers" where we had students, staff, and faculty make their own trail mix, learn about first-gen facts, and pick up buttons relating to first-gen. The second day, we had a faculty, staff, and student luncheon where we heard from first-gen students, staff, and faculty about their journey as a first-gen student along with one-on-one conversations between student and staff/faculty. On the third day we had arts and crafts day where students, staff, and faculty created a vision board of their goals and made coasters that represented why they are first.
