Boise State University plans to highlight first-generation students via social media and push out targeted resources during this week of events.
2019 First-Generation College Celebration
Boise State University is hosting first-generation week from November 4 – 8. This week we celebrate students, staff and faculty who identify as first-gen, and learn about the unique perspectives and value all first-generation college students bring to campus.
Throughout the week first-generation students and faculty will be passing out ""I am First"" stickers around different parts of the university. On Thursday, November 7, there will be a on strategies for supporting First-Generation Students.
The week will culminate with a celebration of current first-generation students and their stories.
2018 First-Generation College Celebration
The TRIO Programs and First Forward Success Program at Boise State University hosted a joint celebration to honor first-generation students. Students gathered in a new TRIO community space to share stories of their personal experiences and successes. Students and staff alike engaged in discussions on what being a first-generation college student means to them, and what the University can do to better support first-generation students going forward.
