2020 First-Generation College Celebration

California State University Monterey Bay's (CSUMB's) 4th Annual First-Generation Celebration is a week packed with learning and bringing brilliance to the first-generation student experience. Workshops geared at story telling, resources, and a dynamic keynote (sponsored by CatalystFIRST) will set the stage for a motivating and inspiring celebration of the first-generation college student identity. The first ever First-generation Faculty and Staff Directory was also launched in celebration of the first generation identity.

2019 First-Generation College Celebration

We hosted conference-style workshops that gave students the opportunity to get to know other first-generation students, staff/faculty, and alumni. Students developed skills and learned about resources offered on campus that help first-generation students achieve success and were reminded of the amazing leaders they are.

2018 First-Generation College Celebration

For the 2018 celebration, CSUMB is moving toward a conference-style event, consisting of eight workshops covering imposter syndrome, the first-generation identity, as well as a panel of first-generation staff and faculty.

2017 First-Generation College Celebration

The TRIO SSS Office at CSUMB offered an open forum on the main campus' quad to celebrate our first-generation students. There was an open mic, tabling by various resources, a photo booth, and an inspiration board.
