2019 First-Generation College Celebration=

This year, Colorado State University (CSU) plans to take the celebration even further. University groups working in TRIO, scholarship programs, as well as diversity and partnership organizations are gathering to plan on how to share on a larger scale first-generation student stories. Connections with first-gen alumni to join as speakers, as well as opportunities for including the CSU First Generation Student Organization have been raised as suggestions for this year's festivities. CSU has a strong history of supporting first-generation students and the university continues its work to share the strengths and assets that each first-generation student brings to the classroom. A website was recently been crafted as a central location to share first generation student success and resources.

2018 First-Generation College Celebration

For the 2018 First-Generation College Celebration, a variety of CSU first-generation student supporters gathered to host a giveaway celebration on the CSU campus plaza. T-shirts were made to celebrate first-generation students, photos were taken, cookies given out, a prize wheel was an exciting stop for students walking by, and we hosted a live recording of the LetsTalkTrio podcast for students to share their first-generation college student stories. In preparation for the event, stories were also celebrated in our campus news. Stories from current first generation students and the dedicated staff who support them were highlighted.
