2019 First-Generation College Celebration

Growing from the success in 2018, Florida A&M University plans to have a similar celebration and raise awareness surrounding the first-generation student identity.

 

 

 

2018 First-Generation College Celebration

Last year, Floriday A&M University hosted an event at the center of campus and invited students to speak with other students about their experiences. If they identified as first-generation, we provided them with a shirt and asked the students to record their story. We created a collage of students speaking on what it is like for them being a first-generation college student. We also asked faculty and staff that are first-generation to come out and grab a shirt and speak with the students about their experience as a first-generation college going student and how it has impacted their life.
