2019 First-Generation College Celebration

Complementing state-wide efforts, FIU hosts five federally funded TRIO programs to increase access, motivate and support first-generation students in their pursuit of a college degree.

IU is unapologetic about their approach to student success by pursuing evidence-based approaches and becoming a model for how to help first-generation students succeed. In fact, FIU is part of the inaugural cohort of First Forward designated colleges and universities in the country.

FIU congratulates those students who work hard every day in pursuit of the dream of being the first in their families to earn a college degree!

To celebrate, FIU is hosting a third national First-Generation College Celebration taking place on November 8 at the Graham Center at MMC and the Wolfe University Center at BBC. Beginning at Noon in the Graham Center Pit will showcase a video of first-generation students; hear from a panel of first-gen FIU alumni who will speak to their own challenges and successes; as well as a networking resource fair and include refreshments!

2018 First-Generation College Celebration

FIU will release a video, hosted a Student Panel and Luncheon, as well as offered a Resource Fair to both raise awareness and build a stronger sense of community!
