2019 First-Generation College Celebration

With rave reviews from the attendees of the 2017 "First Gen Monologues," FMCC will be bringing it back with some new additions to the event. Previously, faculty, staff and students were encouraged to write a submission regarding their experience as a first-generation college student. Participants were then asked to perform the writing to the FMCC community. The event was followed with an ice cream social.

2018 First-Generation College Celebration

In 2018, Fulton-Montgomery Community College (FMCC) decided to acknowledge all faculty, staff and students who identified as a first-generation college student with a free cup of coffee! Upon receiving a cup of coffee, participants received a free sticker that read "I am First Gen," along with a chance to place their name on a bulletin board honoring the first-generation students, faculty and staff at FMCC. Participants also had the opportunity to view celebrities who identified as first-generation college students such as Viola Davis and Oprah Winfrey.

2017 First-Generation College Celebration

Fulton-Montgomery Community College (FMCC) conducted its 1st "First-Gen Monologues." The performers consisted of staff and students who identified as first-generation college students and wanted to share their stories to the public. Submissions were asked from the FMCC community to write about their first-generation college experience. Performers were dressed in unison and walked together to provide a thrilling, heart-felt and emotional experience as first-generation college students. Immediately following the performance was an ice cream social to celebrate the performance.  "
