2020 First-Generation College Celebration
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are dialing back our in-person programming this year. We have a care package pickup, during which students will receive a first gen t-shirt with a photo booth stop (while wearing masks and practicing social distancing!) The care package will also contain toiletries and a folder with different campus resources.
There is a virtual late-night paint night with the first-gen student organization and a First Gen Connect program hosted by the campus Career Services Center. Additionally, we are conducting a "new follower" campaign the week prior to the First-Generation College Celebration, pushing out information for our first-gen faculty to sign up for the campus first-gen network. We are also kicking-off the campaign for a first-gen student zine to be published in the spring!
2019 First-Generation College Celebration
Last year, we provided buttons for students, faculty, and staff to wear around campus on November 8, a Pizza with the (First Gen) Provost event, a DoNut Stress craft night with the first-gen student org, FAFSA walk-in sessions with financial aid counselors, and a graduate school info session.
