2023 First-Generation College Celebration

In an exciting week of celebration, the FLI community at MIT is coming together to recognize the accomplishments of our FLI students. From Wednesday, November 1st, to Wednesday, November 8th, MIT joins institutions nationwide in this recognition. The week is packed with events, starting with "Sushi With Sade -Sushi Rolls & Academic Goals" on November 1st, offering students a chance to meet the new Undergraduate Advising Center FLI Advising Dean and connect with their peers. On November 7th, there will be a dedicated FLI Hub Tabling event at the Undergraduate Advising Center, where students can explore academic wellness strategies and receive commemorative swag. Later that evening, there will be a panel discussion and dinner centered around engaging in UROP-Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program as a FLI student.

The week culminates with the National FLI Day of Celebration on November 8th, where everyone is encouraged to wear their FLI swag, participate in the "Faces of FLI" campaign, and enjoy some a mid-day community gathering. The FLI faculty, senior leaders and staff are also invited to join in the celebration on November 8th, where they can participate in the "Faces of FLI" campaign, write FLI affirmations , and receive FLI swag. Additionally, faculty members, staff and administration and alumni are encouraged to engage throughout the week of celebration and with the FLI community year-round, through initiatives like the coat drive and the FLI Network. This week promises to be a memorable celebration of the FLI community, emphasizing the importance of diversity and inclusivity at MIT. The UAC FLI Advising Team is eagerly looking forward to everyone's active participation in these events. Let's make this FLI Celebration Week unforgettable!
