2021 First-Generation College Celebration
National Louis University will begin our celebrations of First Generation College Week with our Annual Tri Alpha Induction Ceremony. This will be followed by a Social Media Campaign NLU First where we will feature first generation students, faculty and staff. On Wednesday we will be holding a Financial Literacy course. This will be followed by the launch of our NLU First podcast on Thursday. Finally, we will cap off the week with a First Generation Networking Reception.
We are excited to announce that Dr. Sherell Wilson, Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Founder of Beyond College Access, was awarded a 2021-23 National Louis University (NLU) Research & Innovation Seed Grant! In collaboration with NLU's Undergraduate College, she helps kick off the 2021 First-Generation College Celebration by building upon insights from her previous studies and addressing the Enrollment Continuation Needs of #FirstGen students—beyond college access. Some of the most compelling data that informs and directs the work include research interviews with first-year, first-generation students at the university, which are powerful because they elevate "student voice."
