2022 First-Generation College Celebration

7:30am - All First-gen Group Photo in shape of #1 (first-gen students, faculty and staff invited)
Noon to 1pm - First-gen Academic Group Meetings (20 separate meetings facilitated by faculty mentors and student leaders for first-gen students with a major, minor or interest in that major/program).

2020 First-Generation College Celebration

First-generation Celebration Week SWAG bags will be available for pick up from the outdoor First-gen Tent November 2 - November 6 and will include 2021 Cardinal First planner/calendars, Cardinal First beanies, face masks, hand sanitizer, folders, and more. Contactless pick up options also available. Other virtual and in-person engagement opportunities will be available throughout the week including Cardinal First Sophomore Supper on Monday and Cardinal First Friday workshops at 5 consecutive times on Friday.

2019 First-Generation College Celebration

This year, North Central College host the first ever First-Generation Celebration Week, with daily activities and free merch for students and collaborating with our Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence with daily first-gen related professional development opportunities including viewings of two of the Center for First-generation Student Success webinars and article discussions.

Also, there will be a First-gen Celebration Week Display featuring photo posters and quotes from 60 first-gen juniors and seniors, seven Graduate Assistants and photo posters of 60 first-gen faculty and staff. The display was created by 3 graphic design students as part of their capstone course.

We are also piloting a new monthly event - Perk Up! Espresso Yourself in the First-Gen Center; each event will be espresso and conversation with a first-gen faculty member.

2018 First-Generation College Celebration

For the 2018 celebration, North Central College offered Cookies & Cocoa on the Campus Walkway 11:30-1:30 and shared posters around campus featuring first-gen students, staff, and faculty.

In 2017, North Central College offered. Cookies & Cocoa on the Campus Walkway 11:30 am - 1:30 pm  on November 8.
