November 8

2020 First-Generation College Celebration

This year, we have expended our celebration to a full week! We have 22 different events, sponsored by the different colleges and offices across campus. Events include an alumni panel, a FAFSA workshop, a campus exploration event for prospective first-gen students, an open mic night, and a masterclass and keynote by Anthony Jack, author of The Privileged Poor. Our biggest event will be on Thursday evening. We will be hosting the inaugural First-Generation Student Awards. Ten awards will be given in five categories: Academic Achievement, Experiential Achievement, Social Justice Advocacy, Exceptional Leadership, and the First-Generation Legacy Award. We are excited to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of first-generation students to our campus community!
