2021 First-Generation College Celebration

For 2021 the First LEAP Coalition will be hosting various events through the day. Tabling in the main student building will offer cookies, a photo booth and first gen scholarship information. Students will also be entered to win First LEAP shirts. The table will be staffed by First Generation Faculty and Staff from across campus. Following the tabling, students will be invited to join a First-Generation Student Alumni Panel. First Generation Alumni will be virtual but the audience will be able to join either in person or virtually on Zoom, the co-moderators for the event are a First Generation alumni and current faculty member and a current first generation student. The final event of the day will be a workshop hosted by the Experiential Learning office Intern who is a First Generation college student. The workshop is designed to help student achieve your experiential career goals. In addition to these events Faculty and staff from across will be wearing pins saying "I'm First" or "I support SUNY Oswego First Gen Students" and will share their selfie on Social Media. SUNY Oswego official pages will also be highlighting first generation graduate and undergraduate students. 

2019 First-Generation College Celebration

In 2019 SUNY Oswego hosted an Alumni lunch featuring first generation alumni who networked and spoke with students about challenges and opportunities. The First LEAP (first generation coalition) tabled throughout out main student building with a photo-booth and raffled shirts. The SUNY Oswego Social media pages highlighted First generation student and did a "Laker Takeover" as a day in the life of a first generation college student at Oswego.
