2020 First-Generation College Celebration

This year, Wichita State is expanding First-Gen Celebration Week (November 2 - 6) to include the annual academic college events (both in-person and virtual) and adding multiple social media campaigns, a First-Gen Momentum Calling Campaign, a TRIO game day, First-Gen Library Lounge, and the inaugural "Identity: A First-Generation Art Exhibit" in the art gallery in the student center. They will also be hosting an in-person and virtual mini-conference, "Ad Astra 2020," featuring a national speaker and smaller education sessions on November 8 to commemorate National First-Generation Celebration Day.

2019 First-Generation College Celebration

For the 2019 celebration Wichita State University celebrates FirstGen Week, beginning with Coffee & Conversation, a continental breakfast for FirstGen faculty & staff, a Lunch and Learn for the FirstGen student leaders, a keynote address to the student body, the six academic colleges hosting an event for their students, an information fair followed by a group picture and a closing reception.

Wichita State sponsored a FirstGen information fair where first-generation: t-shirts were given to students, followed by a group photo, and concluded with a reception.
