2023 First-Generation College Celebration

Cal State LA is excited to recognize First-Generation College Celebration (FGCC) from November 2 – 9. Scheduled events will highlight the unique experiences of first-generation college students, to include a book reading by former White House aide, Alejandra Campoverdi. Her memoir, "First-Gen" is a tale of inheritance, inspiration, and belonging. Additional events can be viewed here.

Our TRIO Upward Bound Programs will also celebrate First-Gen Day at their target high schools on Wednesday, November 8th from 3-5pm. TRIO students will hear stories from first-gen teachers, counselors and administrators. Photos of TRIO students with a “I am First-Generation” banner will be posted to social media.
