2022 First-Generation College Celebration

NIU plans to host a Huskie First-Gen Celebration Luncheon on November 7. The luncheon will include a panel discussion of university services focusing on how these offices can maximize a Huskie First-Gen's experience.


On November 9, NIU will host a Huskie First Gen-Celebration Fireside Chat with hot chocolate and cookies. All first-gens are welcome. The chat will include staff, faculty and students sharing their experiences being first-gen.


At each event and throughout the week at the Holmes Student Center, student can sign our inaugural "I am Huskie First-Gen Banner" which will be hung at a campus facility. First-Gen Huskies will also take over the official NIU Instagram account the week of November 7 to share their journeys and NIU experiences.
