2021 First-Generation College Celebration

In 2021, the University of Texas at Austin looks to build on the success of the 2018, 2019, and 2020 First-Generation Day by continuing a full week of programming. From Sunday, November 7 through Saturday, November 13, the University of Texas at Austin will promote virtual, hybrid, and in-person events and other services for first-generation Longhorns. These events include a networking workshop for first-generation graduate students, college- and school-specific celebrations, career engagement for first-generation Longhorns, a preview of UT Austin for first-generation prospective students, and the fourth annual First-Generation College Celebration Day. Students will also share their stories on social media on their first-generation identity and share how proud they are to be a first-generation Longhorn.

2020 First-Generation College Celebration

In 2020, the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) looks to build on the success of the 2018 and 2019 First-Generation Day by continuing a full week of programming. From Sunday, November 8 through Saturday, November 14, the University of Texas at Austin will promote virtual events and other services for first-generation Longhorns. These events include a networking workshop for first-generation graduate students, college- and school-specific celebrations, career engagement for first-generation Longhorns, a preview of UT Austin for first-generation prospective students, and the third annual First-Generation College Celebration Day (conducted virtually this year). Students will also share their stories on social media on their first-generation identity and share how proud they are to be a first-generation Longhorn.

2019 First-Generation College Celebration

In 2019, the University of Texas at Austin looks to build on the success of the 2018 First-Generation Day by expanding to a full week of programming. From Monday November 4 - Friday November 8 the University of Texas at Austin will promote events and other services for First-Generation Longhorns. These events include a networking mixer for first-generation alumni, college and school specific celebrations, career engagement for first-generation Longhorns, a preview of UT Austin for first-generation prospective students, and the second annual First-Generation College Celebration Day again at the university tower. Students will also share their stories on social media on their first-generation identity and share how proud they are to be a First-Generation Longhorn.

2018 First-Generation College Celebration

The University of Texas at Austin will host a university wide celebration full of activities for first-generation students, faculty, staff, and alumni at the main building on campus. Students will have the opportunity to join in on games, celebrations, and photo booths/video testimonials for what being first-generation means to them. The university will hold a large group photo of all first-generation students, faculty, and staff.

While no event was held, there was university-wide communication on social media and an email campaign.
