2018 First-Generation College Celebration

The University of South Dakota will be hosting a First-Generation College Celebration Day in the Muenster University Center on Thursday, November 8. This will include drop-by button making with sayings like, “Proud to be First”, “I'm A First-Gen Coyote” etc., a photo booth, and decorating "one" shaped cookies.

Students will get to engage with a few interactive displays regarding First-Generation trivia, writing notes of encouragement, and contribute to building a brochure depicting the First-Generation student experience by sharing their feedback. We will also be creating “I Support First-Gen" window stickers that faculty/staff will be able to put in their offices for students to know they are welcome in that space. Students who participate in a First-Gen "Did You Know" survey in the days preceding the event, will be put into a raffle to win a prize.
